Using the internet to job hunt

Job hunting can be hard especially when there is still so much competition out there for jobs advertised. Following the recession, there were a number of people that were made redundant and few companies were taking on new members of staff, uncertain of their future. This saw unemployment figures rise dramatically over the next few years and only recently have we seen these figures drop down to the usual level.

During this time more and more people were applying for jobs, so previously where as a company may have received 20 applications, they were receiving hundreds. The internet offers a fast and easy way to job hunt. Many companies advertise vacancies they have on their own website, but if you haven’t got the time to go through all of these then you could sign up to an online recruitment company or register with a jobs board to see a number of positions that are suited to your location and skill set.

Even if a candidate does not have all the necessary qualifications or experience, they may be totally committed to learn, hardworking and have a natural talent for the job role.

Dream jobs – do they happen?

When we are children we often talk about what our dream job will be. This is often a doctor, Vet, police man / women or actor / singer but as we mature a lot of us change our mind. So why do we change our idea of a dream job? This is usually because we start to think realistically about the job and what it entails or what qualifications need to be obtained to apply for such positions.

A Doctor for example can spend 7 years or so studying before they actually get a job and with this comes a huge cost at university plus not being able to have a full time job in that time. For some this is simply out of reach and therefore they decide to scale their ideas down a bit.

You should never give up on your dreams if it is something you really want and often there is a way to do it, but it can seem impossible with the day to day running of your life.
