Do you need a degree to get a ‘good’ job?

Sometimes it can seem as if attending university and obtaining a degree will guarantee you a good job once you graduate, however this certainly is not a guarantee in fact it’s getting harder and harder to get a job with or without a degree.

scroll-32278_640If you do choose to do a degree ensure that it is actually relevant to what you’d like to do for a career as just having any degree doesn’t particularly look that impressive on your CV.

Most employers are now more eager to know what experience you have for a role rather than how highly qualified you are as generally experience in a role is more transferable than studying it in a classroom.

Sometimes the best way to get a good job is to start off fairly low down the ladder as an apprentice, that way you get to study and get experience on the job at the same time and you’ll come out of the apprentice qualified but with more experience than someone who has just finished university.

There are obviously some jobs that require you to have a degree but it’s always worth checking if there’s another route to a qualification so you can weigh up your options.
